Your First Unofficial Christmas

Hi there baby~ So its December 30th and your first "unofficial" Christmas has come and gone. It always passes so quickly, but this year we were continually reminded of how next Christmas will be so different. We will have an 8 month old who we will be thrilled to celebrate Jesus' birthday with! I am beginning to understand the meaning of seeing life through your child's eyes, yet you are not even here yet.
I have to say we did take advantage of sleeping in at your Grammy and Poppy's house on Christmas morning. You were kicking like crazy and I had to go to the bathroom around 7:00 that morning, but I made myself go back to sleep knowing this would be our last Christmas morning to sleep in for quite a while.
We spent Christmas Eve with Grammy, Poppy, Jessica, Hunter, Camille and Caroline. (It was Baby Deneke's first "unofficial" Christmas too). We had a great lunch and opened presents in the afternoon. After Jess, Hunter and the girls went to Clanton, your dad, Grammie, Poppy and I went to the Christmas Eve service at Frazier. Christmas day was spent at Maw-Maw's (your great grandmother's house) Most all of Grammie's family was there and it was good to catch up with everyone. We headed home to Auburn to leave the morning after Christmas to go to Cartersville. We spent the first night at Barnsley with Meme, O, Mary, Kevin, Suzie and Collier. We walked around, relaxed and then opened presents before dinner. It was a very low key day, which was nice. Then we all headed back to Meme and O's to spend two more nights. Your dad and I spent some time shopping around for a new camera and TV. We seem to think we will be taking lots of pictures of you!!!
We were pleased as usual to get back home to settle into a routine and rest. We have some time off work, which we are taking advantage of the time to start getting things ready for your room. (Moving furniture, cleaning out, sending MORE 'stuff' to Grammy and Poppy's or Meme and O's)
Tonight we actually grabbed dinner at Larado's (shocker). We got home and I was in my pj's, contacts out and chillin' on the computer by 6:45 PM while your dad watch football. We realized we were 'growing up' when this is worthy of getting excited about!
Right on time little one... its about 10:00 PM and you are becoming a little "kickin' chicken" as your dad has named you. I've been having some mild heartburn most nights, which if the old wives tales is true, "they" say it means your baby will be born with a head full of hair. I guess we will just have to wait and see!
Merry Christmas baby and Happy New Year! We love you dearly.
~Mom

  1. Nancy,
I've stumble across your blog from Ginger's page. I'm so happy to read that you are expecting. It's wonderful news and journey that is life changing, to put it mildly! I hope you are doing well. I can't believe you're in Auburn. I travel that way a good bit because some of my husband's family lives there. We also hit Tiger Town and surrounding area from time to time. Drew (hubby) works for John Deere so we've been up to the new store in Auburn several times.

Please visit my blog anytime to catch up. www.theparkmanfamily.blogspot.com

Great to read that you're doing well!
